HSE STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

Salillari ltd and each of its business units must state objectives related to environment, health and safety in the annual business plans within the plan review period, with the aim of achieving continuous improvement.

These objectives include details on resources that will be allocated to the HSE training and auditing programs, new initiatives proposed and specific HSE objectives, against which performance can be measured.

Objectives have been identified and discussed with stakeholders and subordinates, have been agreed upon and have been included in the Objectives’ Programs. The objectives and programs are communicated to the relevant staff and monitored by the Board of Directors. The program is reviewed regularly by the Board of Directors and is amended, updated or expanded accordingly. Any unresolved matters are reviewed with the relevant persons and if necessary changes are made to the target dates.

Training

A Training Needs Analysis is conducted for every staff member, considering his/her role and expected tasks. This results into a Training Matrix for each project, focusing on the required training for all staff, which is then followed up by the relevant project HSE team. The information is used to complete the Training Matrix and all the required training is recorded in the Matrix along with the completion date.

PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND AUDITING

The Health and Safety Management System defines the proactive performance measuring. It includes routine inspection of specific articles, specific inspections and compliance check with the systems, using a range of tools, such as:

  • Safety Manager Visits
  • Quarterly Appraisal of Operations Managers
  • Legal Monitoring
  • Routine Supervisor Inspections
  • HSE Advisor Inspections

Salillari and Third Party Audits

The Audit Plan is part of the HSE Management System. It is clear that the majority of non-compliance instances will be identified as observations in an inspection report. Many minor non-compliances observed on site are immediately resolved. A timeframe is assigned for serious non-compliance, in order to take the relevant corrective measures.

The facility for issuing formal non-compliance paperwork is included in the Shift Safety Management Board information and in the Formal Auditing process.

Deviation from the Safety Management System may be identified by:

  • Safety Management Shifts;
  • Auditors in the course of their auditing;
  • Supervisors in the course of their duties and routine inspections;
  • HSE inspectors in the course of their routine inspections.
